  • What details of your life have influenced who you are?

I aspire to be a leader, growing up as the younger brother of two older brothers has made me grow up aspired, looking up to, and wanting to be just like them. When it comes to my basketball team, I see family, away from home. It would be the start of mine and my family's dream to move overseas to America and fulfill a dream a 6 years old me brought to light. Every birthday, lucky coin, and every perfect time on the clock I would say one wish over and over, “I want to become the best basketball player in the world”. I have learned that it’s not all about what you can display on the court, but how you handle and create the ability to control your emotions to support your crew.

What is my strive, my influence to keep going strong every day. Since I was born, I grew up alone with my amazing mother and two older brothers. I struggled silently about growing up without a father figure, I don’t fear pain, but I rather hurt alone, so my enemies don't see me at my lowest. My influence to keep going is the absence of my father, him leaving me left a void inside of me, so many people have failed, if he hadn't left I wouldn't be the person I am today.  This might not be the kind of message you guys normally receive, but this is me showing my

  • When and how did you become interested in your sport?

I am trying to build my own legacy, a team's legacy that will rise to success with a coach we have accepted. I have learned many lessons throughout my years of trying to become the best version of myself off and on the court. Furthermore I have learned that voids, holes, spaces, you never know how deep they are until you try to fill them. I was too scared to try to fill the gap and fix what was broken. I lead on strength from others, I forgot that sometimes filling the biggest voids left by your absence, is to turn the page and simply keep living. I've lost faith in myself and opened doors to strangers when we should be listening to our own inner voices. I was lucky enough to have people I love to guide me back to that voice. Ground me in it. Bring me back to who I am.

  • What have you learned about yourself through playing your sport?

I aspire to be a leader, growing up as the younger brother of two older brothers has made me grow up aspired, looking up to, and wanting to be just like them. When it comes to my basketball team, I see family, away from home. It would be the start of mine and my family's dream to move overseas to America and fulfill a dream a 6 years old me brought to light. Every birthday, lucky coin, and every perfect time on the clock I would say one wish over and over, “I want to become the best basketball player in the world”. I have learned that it’s not all about what you can display on the court, but how you handle and create the ability to control your emotions to support your crew.

  • What are your academic goals for high school? For college?

For high School I started off with a full IB diploma taking English A, Dutch A, and Business as my three Higher Level classes. I took Sport Science, Psychology, and Math AI as my standard level. After my first year of starting IB I was in 11th grade (year 12) and I dropped out of Full IB and decided to only complete half IB. My IB subjects in my final year were Higher Level Business and Standard Level Dutch B and Sport Science.

I have just graduated High School from the Nord Anglia International School of Rotterdam with a 2.03 GPA and await for my IB results which are announced in July. My life goal is to one day become a businessman as I already invest into companies and work alongside my brother who has an event organization company. I hope to study business and play basketball at a high level in America.

  • Have you had to overcome any obstacles to get where you are?

I have had many ups and downs which have helped me come to the position I am very grateful for now. I started playing basketball at a young age and while traveling a lot due to my moms work I would not always be able to have conversations with teammates as I didn't speak the home language.

  • What unique characteristics or skills do you possess?

On the court, I am a quick ball handler and have full court vision at all times. I have a good 3 point shot and a decent mid-range. I always drive strong to the basket with a smooth finish. I am 6,5 ft (195 cm) with a strong build. I have great rebounding and passing skills. I started my basketball career as a point guard (1) but have moved more to the shooting guard/ small forward position (2/3). If the coach believes I am more suitable for a different position, I will be all for it and work my hardest to be successful. I believe I can help the team and I hope I get this opportunity to show it.
